In another level, players can blast out the tubes connecting the main hub-room to several smaller rooms, filled with power-ups. Another good example of the genre moving away from its roots again is found in interactivity. The best example of the interactivity is the giant jumbo-tron that can be shot at and heaved onto some unsuspecting enemy. And nearly every part of the environment is interactive, or destructible. The Quake III launch pads work well to jump players up onto second story floors, where players can catch their breath, power-up and regain some health. It moves at about 60 fps (the single player mode does a constant 60 fps), with occasional slowdown, and most of the levels are selectable for demoing. First, the two-player mode is here and is surprisingly fast. The numerous alterations that have been made since the last version we saw can't be all summed up here, but the significant items can be. ![]()
